Workers with Wet Feet

Areas in the landscape that either stay perpetually wet or have a high tendency to swing greatly between full saturation during wet periods and brutal, hard dryness when the water is absent are very difficult to deal with from a plant selection standpoint.  Fortunately, many plants that can tolerate excessive wet feet can handle the low level of oxygen in the hard compacted soils also.  Below are some items we grow that can help turn these difficult areas into a beautiful and successful landscape.

Winterthur Viburnum

Viburnum nudum 'Winterthur'

Clethra alnifolia 'Hummingbird and Ruby Spice'

Aronia x 'Autumn Magic'

Brilliantissima Chokeberry

Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima'

Quercus bicolor

Ilex glabra 'Shamrock'

Moraine Sweetgum

Liquidambar styraciflua 'Moraine'

Shawnee Brave Bald Cypress

Taxodium distichum Shawnee Brave tm, 'Falling Waters'

Blue-Eyed Grass

Sisyrinchium 'Lucerne'
